Rye Malt recipe???

Post by WishboneBrewery » Tue Jun 30, 2009 5:49 pm

Has anyone done a Beer with Rye Malt, what did it add and has anyone got a recipe?
I've got 1kg of Rye Malt, 1kg of Crystal Rye Malt, and 1kg of Roasted Rye Malt to experiment with... from what I've read it can be over powering (or an acquired taste) if more than 10-20% is added.

thanks :)

Thanks, I suppose I could tweak that recipe to the Hops I've got at the moment, and I've got some Cara-red and Belgian Aromatic that might substitute the Cara-Pils/Dextrine to interesting effect. :)

*edit, though looking at my hops I don't have much in the way of equivalents :)

Looks good pdtnc :D , but I would keep the Rye as is but reduce the % of wheat to keep the rye/wheat ratio to some where between 50-60% so as to avoid a stuck mash as Rye has little husk material like wheat.
