Post by spiderpig » Tue Aug 25, 2009 2:44 pm

 hi am nearly ready to have a go at my first all grain brew but not sure what to brew am very fond of lager with saaz hops but have not got a temp control cupboard and don't want to try and run before i can walk
would like something what tastes lagerish but can be ready to drink quickly and don't want to worry to much about temp etc

That's going to be difficult to achieve. You may want to use Saflager S-23. I heard it does well at higher temps.

The only thing which tastes like lager is lager.
Best wishes

You'd be pretty suprised what UK-05 can do with all lager malt, tettnanger hops, and fermented cool. Pretty damn close.

I've got to agree with Whorst on this one....... I did a similar beer a while back, and it tasted very lagerish indeed - it even fooled some of my lager drinking mates (although the colour was a bit too dark, they still accepted it was "Czech style" lager without question)

Of course, it wouldn't have fooled a seasoned ale drinker, or any kind of homebrewer, but them's the breaks!
