Amber Ale Grain Bill -

Post by leigh1919 » Wed Aug 26, 2009 5:43 pm

Guys -

Am doing my version of an Amber Ale in a couple of weeks, here's what I have got so far. Given that I'm still a bit ropey around recipes of my own, anyone got any comments? I'm going for something that I have called 'Amber Ale' but it's not anything like Anchor Steam or anything - want to end up with something fruity and full, and definately Amber/Red in colour.

4.65 kg Pale Malt (2 Row) UK (5.0 EBC) Grain 93.00 %
0.30 kg Caramel/Crystal Malt - 60L (120.0 EBC) Grain 6.00 %
0.05 kg Chocolate Malt (900.0 EBC) Grain 1.00 %
20.00 gm Northdown [8.00 %] (90 min) Hops 15.8 IBU
20.00 gm Northdown [8.00 %] (60 min) Hops 14.8 IBU
20.00 gm Goldings, East Kent [5.00 %] (30 min) Hops 7.1 IBU
20.00 gm Cascade [8.00 %] (0 min) (Aroma Hop-Steep) Hops -
1.00 items Whirlfloc Tablet (Boil 15.0 min) Misc

1 Pkgs US05 (Safale)

OG 1045
FG 1014 (estimate) - 90 minute boil.

thanks....!
