West Coast Bitter Ale

Post by Whorst » Tue Feb 09, 2010 7:41 pm

I'm on fire now. Got some remnants of my lager left, which is delicious, a very nice Pale Ale, hopped exclusively with Summit and dry hopped with Summit, that's getting brighter every day, now time to add another to my arsenal.

I've just tuned by mash/lauter tun by cleaning the manifold and installing a new PVC valve. I've called the manufacturer who claims that with the PSI I'll be using, there shouldn't be any problems related to heat. Now the recipe, assuming 70% efficiency.

6lbs. 2-row Pale
.5 British Crystal 50-60L
.5 American Crystal 80L
1lb Caravienne
.25 Special Roast
1 oz. Challenger 6.5% AA @ 60
.5 oz Challenger @ 15
Yeast: White Labs British Ale, The real UK-05?? :=P
Dry hopped w/56g EKG for 7 days.
O.G 1.037
F.G 1.009
ABV 3.6%

I love caravienne, just used it in a pale ale hopped with Summit. Very smooth, light, crystal malt flavor, with nice color. I used 448g of it and it's lovely.
