Another Hillbilly Recipe

Post by Horden Hillbilly » Sat Feb 03, 2007 9:34 pm

I intend to get up early tomorrow to set this bitter away, here is the recipe from the Hillbilly brewery, it is well tried & tested if anyone likes the look of it & wishes to brew it.

Pale Malt 3580g
Crystal Malt 220g
Amber Malt 44g
Flaked Maize 266g
Brewing Sugar 310g
Fuggles hops start of boil: aim for 14 EBU
Goldings hops start of boil: aim for 20 EBU
Goldings hops last 15 mins: 14g
Goldings hops end of boil: 14g (leave to soak for 30 mins before running off)
Yeast: Whitelab Burton or any quality top fermenter.

I estimate a gravity of 1046 @ 79% effiency, it is 23 litres, EBU 34.

It is a little stronger than I usually make, most of my beers are in the 1042-1044 region. I intend to bottle this brew & drink it in the summer months (Always the optomist!)
