Hybrids

Post by paulpj26 » Mon May 17, 2010 10:53 pm

Hi, I've just brewed my second ever AG batch, my first one was based on Banks Best Bitter. This second batch I'll probably regret brewing but I just wanted to see what would happen lol. I used the following ingredients:

3kg Lager Malt
500g Light Crystal Malt

Start Of Boil
20g Fuggles
20g Goldings

Last 10 Mins
20g Saaz

Saflager s23

It could possible be the worst pint ever but it might be ok, I'll see what happens.

I was wondering has anyone else used ingredients that is generally used with lager and mixed them with ale ingredients to create hybrids? If so, were they any good?

Cheers!
Paul

Sure they do, people do it all the time, commercial brewers as well. Harviestoun Bitter & Twisted is one — made with "lager hops". Loads of the new wave hoppy bitters are lager malt + American hops.
