Making an Imperial Porter (I don't care if according to history there is or isn't such a thing!). I'm going away on business for about half a year and now have the opportunity to brew something and be guaranteed it doesn't get drunk early.
Here is the recipe:
Pale Malt 4000 grams
Wheat Malt 790 grams
Sugar Household White 420 grams
Chocolate Malt 120 grams
Crystal Malt 200 grams
Amber Malt 100 grams
Munich Malt 250 grams
Caramalt 250 grams
EKG 50g 90 mins
Some High AA hop 50g 90 mins
Volume: 13 Litres
Original Gravity: 1.097
Final Gravity: 1.018
Alcohol Content: 10.6% ABV
Total Liquor: 23 Litres
Mash Liquor: 14.3 Litres
Expected Total Efficiency: 65 %
Bitterness: 100 EBU (hopefully)
Colour: 97 EBC
So a user upper too. Any advice? What other bittering hop would you suggest? Any tips on high gravity brewing (I lowered my expected eff by 15%)?
Cheers Matt

Ok. Well looks like it'll be a goer sometime in a couple of weeks.

Re: Imperial Porter
Probably best to set your efficiency lower than normal and do an extra sparge and boil it back to your real pre-boil volume.
