I am not sure enough to answer this one, so maybe someone else can. I have recieved two types of Torri in my time - one looked more like a barley grain, and the other looked more like hard oats. The "hard oat" one looked exactly like the flaked wheat i have bought in the past, so i used it in a wit and it was exactly like one made with flaked wheat. So i'd conclude either:redmarko wrote:Could I use torrified wheat in place of flaked wheat without repurcussion.
a) The supplier got mixed up and sent me flaked instead of torri
or
b) The "oaty" one was the same thing as the "grainy" one but crushed (squashed not milled) - in which case it seems torri can be substituted for flaked.
I believe you are meant to to a cereal mash, but i have always done a standard mash and it has worked out fine.redmarko wrote:Also, is torrified and flaked wheat ok to do single mash in same manner in which you would do malted wheat at larger volumes of grain.?
