I am not sure enough to answer this one, so maybe someone else can. I have recieved two types of Torri in my time - one looked more like a barley grain, and the other looked more like hard oats. The "hard oat" one looked exactly like the flaked wheat i have bought in the past, so i used it in a wit and it was exactly like one made with flaked wheat. So i'd conclude either:
a) The supplier got mixed up and sent me flaked instead of torri
or
b) The "oaty" one was the same thing as the "grainy" one but crushed (squashed not milled) - in which case it seems torri can be substituted for flaked.

I believe you are meant to to a cereal mash, but i have always done a standard mash and it has worked out fine.
