1.5kg should give you fiery gingerness, i used 5kg in 393 gallons and that was noticably gingery!

I made 23l with 1.75kg of ginger (smashed up in the blender) and it is fiery, gingery and dry (no lactose or sweetners). I used it to make some mulled ginger beer over Christmas which was very nice and think it will work OK with some lemonade as a mixer but it isn't great on its own. If I make it again I'll ease back on the ginger and add something to sweeten or maybe use an ale yeast to finish higher

1.75 kg ginger root
2.5 k sugar

4 lemons, sliced

300g of Sultanas

3/4 tsp. Cream of Tartar

youngs wine yeast

Wow thats a lorra ginger guys - I will definately need to up it next time as its a bit bland for me. Sweetness is just right though.

I used natural unrefined golden caster sugar which is cheap in al Frescos. I added a bit of soft brown too and would stick with that next time and possibly at a little more or darker.
