Hop help please.

Post by Deebee » Sat Feb 19, 2011 7:59 pm

Hi all,
As mentioned in an earlier thread i an looking to make a very malt hefty beer.
The plan is as follows-
4000 munich,
400 aroma malt,
200 carapils
150 wheat.
I would be looking at using wlp0028.
But then i get stuck for which hops to use.
I have the c hops, bobek, fuggles, challenger, northdown, some goldings, target, columbus, styrians, chinook.
I want something malt dominant, although hop presence need to be there. I an looking at a 22 litre brew.
Anyone able to help of out, right now i an thinking fuggles and goldings, around 33 ibu?

That's going to be nice and malty indeed. I like Bobek and Cascade in malty beers. I'd do a 80c steep with 30g of each. Should resemble Admiral's Ale.

What about the 60 and late hops? Cascade and bobek here too?

You can't go wrong with goldings.
I'm just here for the beer.

I would go Goldings & Fuggles, plenty late and early.

I thought the same. I have load fuggles.
Was thinking around 14 ibu of each at 60, them 3 ibu each at 10, followed by say 10-15 grams each steep. Most important for this brew is that the malt is dominant. The hops need to be background.
