An ale with ginger?

Or a ginger beer, but alcoholic?

Just ginger beer, old fashioned type but with alcoholic content.Want to use a demi john to ferment and transfer to another one to store instead of bottles.Want it like Crabbies a bit!

I know its a kit, but the Coopers ginger beer is very good and some have said better than Crabbies, it ferments out at 3.5% for 20 pints and comes in at about £12, easy to follow too :)

heres one i did last year we still have some stored, it is very gingery

heres the recipie i used

1kg Fresh grated ginger
5tsp Dried ground ginger
1tsp Cream of tartar
1 lemon [chopped]
1 lime[chopped]
2.5kg Sugar
2tsp Yeast nutrient
2 tsp young super yeast concentrate

i grated the ginger, boiled it with the lemon and lime in 2l of water for 30mins,

put it all in the fv,
stirred in the sugar,
topped up with treated water,[with a camden tablet] to 5 gallons, added the nutrient ,ground ginger, cream of tartar, and pitched the yeast,
it came out really well with a good ginger bite....

only costs around 4 quid for 5 gallons.... 8)

Any tips on how long to leave this recipe fermenting or conditioning? I have just started brewing it this evening.

Also I am using ale yeast as I had some spare and Wilkos didn't have any super yeast 2 x 1kg bags of beer enhancer and 500g of glucose instead of sugar)
