They are the bee's knee's! I went with #49 mesh and have had no probs with either whole or pellet hops!

Looks good - the only thing about the WLP029 is that it's very hop forward, and this might subtract a little from the malt than a true lager yeast would, but then it still looks pretty tasty to me. The WLP029 is very clean - I get a little peachy fruit out of it, but then that's with a very simple pils malt bill - the munich and caramunich should blow that out of the water!

Your probably right about the yeast being hop forward, although they are some robust malts in there. I also realised that the tettnanger I had was about 0.7%AA less than in my recipe so that should tone it down a bit.

I've never got peach from it, only a very clean 'german' profile. I can't put my finger on what was so 'german' about it (probably just it being so clean and with nobel hops).

I'm very much looking forward to this one. I'm gonna do an alt with one of the yeast cakes, and either another kolsch or a bock kind of beer.

great thanks Guy.

It's still in Primary  but it's now crystal clear. I'm going to be bottling off some beers from a couple of cornis to make room for this. Then it's going to get gassed up and put outside in the shed to cold cold condition. I can't lager it as I don't have a fridge anymore.

I had a sneaky taste last night and it is tasting great. Nice malty, bread crust flavour. This is my 1st beer with the Weyermaan pilsner malt, and infact 100% Weyermann malts and I'm impressed. :D

there is a nice level of bitterness. Probably a not as much as I planned as I only realised after the brew day htat the Tett I used wee 3.9%AA and the recipe thought they were 4.2% (i forgott to adjust it in beer alchemy).

That said I think it is a good thing as the kolsch yeast had the potential to let the hops dominate.

I'll defenitly be bringing some to Lancaster, along with my Wit and some APA/AIPA's

:D

Kegged this this morning  It's currently under 30psi to try and get carbonated by Friday. Had a a couple of pints out of the bottom of the FV. Chilled it down and ran it through the soda stream to carb up. I'm so white trash! :D

Very happy with this. It is somewhere between spaten and Hacker-Pschorr Oktoberfest. It is more Hacker-Pschorr Oktoberfest in colour (being a Marzen, yet is'nt as hop forward. still has nice bread crust maltiness. A bit of chill haze but with some time in the cold should drop out nicely. :D
