Newquay Steam Beer

Post by Beer O'Clock » Sun Jan 29, 2012 9:54 pm

After a conversation on a non-brewing related forum, I have decided to try and brew a version of the now defunct Newquay Steam Bitter. My only problem is I have no idea where to start. It's been so long since I drank any. The only recipe I have found online was a guess but didn't add up. The colour would be all wrong.
It claimed 100% MO. Looks from archive photos that there would be, at least, some crystal. To about 18 EBC by my reckoning.
Hops were listed as; Fuggles, EKG and Progress to 30IBU. I can't really argue with that.

Your thoughts gentle-persons, please :?

Also the Steam Lager ? Was it a California Common ?
I buy from The Malt Miller
