Come up with this based on a their own recipe list, and 1 or 2 threads online.
Think it sounds OK? The original is VERY nice, especially when the sun is belting down and we can't get it over here

Re: Kona Fire Rock Ale clone
Looks spot on to me, this is one I have had to clone on my list for a long time. My recipe looks identical, I imagine we have viewed the same posts!
A lovely malty pale ale, but without being overly crystal/caramelly.
Let us know how it goes!

I also had a vague-ish reply from their Brewery Operations Manager who suggested some of the ingredientsa (but not all)
Re: Kona Fire Rock Ale clone
To me 0,5kg melano (over 8%) seems too much. Usually it's less than 5%. This malt has very strong flavour & aroma.
Re: Kona Fire Rock Ale clone
Well, it's a first attempt, so things can be tweaked for next time. I checked theSG earlier and had a taste from the sample and it's pretty good, even if I do say so myself.
Re: Kona Fire Rock Ale clone
Well, I bottled this on Monday morning, and couldn't help myself and sneaked a quick taster this afternoon. I can't believe how well it's turned out, and the carbonation is great for just a few days. Really, really pleased with the final outcome.

I nearly replied on this early asking for an update. Great its come out so well, i'm hoping to brew this over the wknd.
I've not got any Mount Hood so need to find a suitable replacement. Was contemplating more Cascade or some new untried Summit
