Post by fatcontro11er » Sun Jul 29, 2012 9:29 am

Right I'm out of pale malt and as I'm in n.i. Will not be getting any till sept but want to get a beer on .a stout? Anyway I have 1.5 tin of coopers dark malt extract
500g wheat spray malt
500g crystal malt
5k raw crushed wheat
2k flaked barley
500g black malt
500g roast malt
Loads of cascade hops
Any ideas how to get enough fermentables from that lot ?

Sorry mate but unless you are going to do a really small batchhere is not alot you can do?

is there a reason as to why you can't order a bag of pale?

Or are there no other homebrewers nearby that may be able to sub you out.

Suppose I could but I'm I'n Derry and usually rely on visitors bringing malt over ! I can get 3k I'n Belfast but begrudge the 140 mile round trip to pay £8 for it.

I wouldn't drive 140 miles for one item. At the cost of gas for my van it would be cheaper to have it shipped.
I'm lucky enough to have several home brew shops fairly close, including one that's a 20 minute ride on the bus route that has a stop two blocks east of my house.
I'm just here for the beer.

The homebrew company in mountmellick co. laois are very competitive , all ireland delivery is only €4.95 by courier, I don't find it cost effective to buy grain in england any more. With the strength of sterling at the moment you're laughing
By the way fatcontroller where can you get brewing supplies in Belfast? I've looked but never found!

Natures way on the upper newtonards rd , it's a health food shop too , it can be a bit limited with variety which is frustrating unless you live close by and can bob I'n on a regular basis !
