Hi JonoT! I think 59EBU might be a bit too bitter for a 1038 beer, not a lot of malt backbone for that level of bitterness, but it's all a matter of taste.
I did a cracking NS single hop brew last year. 10% munich malt, 1045 OG and 38IBU with loads in at flame out. I thought it tasted of peaches or apricots. Yummy!!
I think I might get this on next brew.

That thought did pass our minds while brewing, basically i been given the end of a 5KG hop bag that was open, not sealed and not frozen, from a guy across the road who works at a local micro. I've no idea how long its been open, but my thinking was they are not going to be at there best so might as well use up the whole packet!
Will see what it turns out like!

Just opened first bottle of this and I really like it, its very drinkable, but a very distinctive fruitie hoppie taste. If the hops had been in prime condition then it would have defentally been too much.

Give it a couple of weeks, it'll mellow I'm fairly sure. I brewed an Apollo single hop, it was way OTT to begin with and I almost put it on my black list but a couple of weeks later it had really developed and is now one of my top beers.JonoT wrote:Just opened first bottle of this and I really like it, its very drinkable, but a very distinctive fruitie hoppie taste. I've currently got a single hopped Nelson on the go, it's almost down to target FG and a sneaky taster today was very promising.
