Hop reduction for Dave Lines recipes?

I'm planning on another go at the DL Royal Oak recipe if everything goes well for tomorrow:

Dave Lines Royal Oak - minimash

Size: 5.0 L
Efficiency: 75% - there's optimism for you

Attenuation: 75.0%
Calories: bothered?

Original Gravity: 1.049 (1.048 - 1.060)

Terminal Gravity: 1.012 (1.010 - 1.016)

Color: 13.8 (6.0 - 18.0)

Alcohol: 4.81% (4.6% - 6.2%)

Bitterness: 42.0 (30.0 - 50.0)

Ingredients:
0.8 kg Maris Otter
0.06 kg Crystal
0.1 kg Barley Flaked
0.08 kg Dark Brown Sugar
12.0 g Fuggle (4.8%) - added during boil, boiled 90 min
6.0 g Goldings (4.5%) - added during boil, boiled 90 min
3.0 g Goldings (4.5%) - steeped after boil
2.0 g Goldings (4.5%) - added dry to secondary fermenter
0.0 g Irish Moss - added during boil, boiled 0.0 min

Schedule:

BeerToolsPro gives this a bitterness of 42 (IBU??), but I've got nothing to compare that figure against. Is this high for this type of beer? Should I make a 'DL' adjustment (I saw DaaB mention 20% in another post)?

Low thirties - having drunk it in the past I can't recall it being notably bitter.

My trusty Real Ale Almanac (1997 edition) lists Royal Oak as having 31 IBUs

Just so I'm not barking up the wrong tree - BTP uses 'mg/l' for each of the hops in the boil - is is coincidence that they add up to 42, or is this the same as IBU? If not, is there a conversion that I should be using?

An IBU is defined as the concentration of isohumulone in a beer in parts per million. One ppm = 1 mg/l.

Marvellous.

By reducing the Fuggles to 9g and Goldings to 4.5g (might be tricky, but I do have a set of digital scales that go to .1g) I've got the bitterness down to 31.5. Close enough! The ratios of bitterness from each have been more or less preserved too.

The difference between Dave Lines recipe adn trhe result predicted by Beer tools is probably down to the difference in hop alpha acids between what Dave was assuming and what we are now told. If anything Alpha values have risen consistantly in the last 30 Years.

Can anybody cast any light on why the great man quotes 6-8.5% AA for Saaz and 7-9% for Hallertauer on p75 of BBOB?
