Help to find book/recipe
Re: Help to find book/recipe
Just wondering which recipe will be the closest to the original, gut feeling is to go with the first recipe that I found that apparently came from the real ale almanac,on the other recipe it appears that its just Mark Ollosons stab at making something vaguely similar, also if you put his ingredients into beer engine the IBUs and OG are way out.

Having a look through the Durden Park booklet, I think I will have a go at this in the next month or two:
ISPA (1876) Fremlin's (Number 28)
Very approx. metric quantities for 46 litres:
10 Kg Pale Malt
3.2 Kg White Sugar (I think I might halve that!)
0.7 Kg Demerara Sugar
600 gms Fuggles full boil
125 gms Fuggles 15 mins
According to beer engine, this will give:
FG 1.006, 9.8% abv, 17 EBC, 147 EBU
Keep for 7-8 months.
Not quite "Fremlin's Bitter" but should be interesting.....

That's cool. Inexpensive too. Are these recipes any good? Anyone brew these and find the book to contain worthwhile recommendations?lancsSteve wrote:You can buy eCopy of that book at http://www.realalerecipes.talktalk.net/index.html
