Hi,
I have just bought 100gms of Chinook and 100gms of Citra. In store i have some northdown 50gms and 100gms cascade.
Looking to redo my American Pale, 45 litres
which hops to use Hmm
would you go with Northdown to give the bitterness and then finish with Citra and and Chinook or Chinook and Cascade??
Chinook and Citra
Re: Chinook and Citra
If I was using Chinook again, I would be pairing it with Challenger or Northdown

Re: Chinook and Citra
My favorite beer at a recent festival was a single-hop Chinook IPA. So, so delicious. Complex and highly drinkable. Perhaps you should make it a personal challenge to get just the right balance of malt sweetness, bitterness, flavor and aroma from only Chinook.

Re: Chinook and Citra
Hi Rob,
I've made a few brews now with only Citra and the wonderful melon, lime and manadrin flavours have knocked my socks off. It is, for me, the best of all hops. It has a high AA so works in small quantities for bittering, has a great taste as a flavour hop, and does the job well right at the end as an aroma hop.
But hey, that's just my humble opinion. You expriment, write down all that you do, and build up from there.
Enjoy.
Dave.

Currently Drinking: Marris Otter with home roasted porridge oats, shredded wheat, crystal and black malt, EKG hops and Nottingham yeast. Smooth, dark, and rich - put some aside for Xmas.
Currently Drinking: Bohemian Pilsner with porridge oats, shredded wheat and basmati rice, along with Saaz hops, mandarin zest, coriander, cardamon pods and Munich yeast. Silky on the mouth with a wonderful summer taste. Love this brew!
