Increase in Brew Length

Quite a simple one, If you wanted to increase brew length to say 50 litres or even 100 litres, from the usual 23 litres, is it just a simple case of changing it on the chosen software and then matching the grist/hop schedule to match (i.e. is it all proportionate) ? what effect does it have on the recipe?

Example: 4.5 kg of malt X for 23 litres would be 9kg (ish) for 50 litres.

I'd guess yes.

If you use the same quantities of everything it should have no effect on the recipe?

I've asked this similar question to multiple professional brewers:

if I have a proven winner 5 gallon recipe, is it a simple matter of multiplying the relative proportions when transistioning to a 3 barrel brewery or 5 barrel brewery, etc?

All answers were about the same: theoretically, yes, though every system is different. Your mash efficiency will vary, the hops alpha acid extraction rate will vary, times and temperatures at each stage will vary, the amount of wort "equipment loss" will vary, etc. Therefore, simply multiply your recipe as a starting point, but take good measurements and notes when brewing the bigger batch and be prepared to make fine-tuning adjustments the next time.

Thanks Seymour, you have confirmed my thinking. Not everything is going to be increased in relation to increased brew length. I think I may have to go with the software and then refine as I go.

Thanks.
