First Gold recipe advice sought.

Post by Redimpz » Sun Nov 11, 2012 7:12 pm

I'm contemplating an ale using First Gold as a single hop, the AA is 8% ish. i have 80g to play with, any suggestions?
I've a variety of grains, Cara 30, Amber, Crystal, Chocolate, Black, Wheat and torrefied wheat.
also got some other hops potentially for bittering such as Target, Fuggles and EKG

I just did one, but used Challenger for bittering, then FG for flavour and aroma.

Will post recipe tonight.

Hi

Now this is a brew I did last year in an Atempt to clone "Goldminer"
Pale malt 96%
Caramalt 4%

OG 1050

First gold to 28 ibu 90 mins
First gold to 7ibu 10 mins
Then 20-30g at flame out

Nice beer and fairly close to the beer you can get in the co-op.

Cheers!
Guy

Base malt is pale malt, I'm planning on 23litres.
I've had an issue recently with calculating the % into Grammes, (added 500g roast oats to 23l of stout, maybe a bit heavy) so actual weights would be most helpful.
