Morrell's Varsity Special Bitter, anyone?

Post by seymour » Wed Dec 19, 2012 9:46 pm

Has anyone brewed a good Morrell's Varsity clone? I've read it was always an all-malt recipe, and is particularly fruity. Any tips? Mash temp? Which yeast would you recommend? Fermentation temp?

Thanks,
-Seymour

Never tried to brew that one Seymour but there is some info here: http://books.google.co.uk/books?id=6vbW ... pe&f=false

You need to go to page 398...

Yeah, cool. Thank you. Full disclosure: I've seen that, so grains and hops are pretty-well worked out, I'm just wondering if anyone knows any particular tricks or techniques to get it even closer to the original.

It sounds like Sharp's uses the old Morrell's yeast strain. Anyone successfully re-cultured any Sharp's yeast?
