I'm after something in a best bitter style but at around 3.7% from the following..
Pale Malt loads
Vienna
Torrefied Wheat 500g
Crystal Malt 500g
Hops
Bramling 9g
Styrian Golding celeia 17g
Stella Hop 40g
Citra 37g
Golding 24g
Fuggles 84g
Progress 56g
Challenger 26g
Target 7g
Magnum 57g
Summer 10g
Household white sugar 1kg
Yeast
Gervin English Ale
Safale US -05
Safale S -04
A 60 mash and boil would be good too.

Re: Best Bitter? Recipe Wanted
For something pretty standard I would go with:
88% Pale Malt
8% Crystal
4% Torrified Wheat
All of your challenger and target for bittering at 60 mins then fuggles at 10mins and 0mins aiming for about 30IBUs in all.
I would mash at 68 degrees C for an hour and boil for an hour.
Yeast S04.
As its a low strength beer I might be tempted to gently boil down a few litres of the first runnings to give a bit more depth. Or sub some of the pale malt for vienna. Or do both of these things.
You have a lot of options open to you.
Good luck wth whatever you come up with.

Re: Best Bitter? Recipe Wanted
That sounds great, here's another historical option:
SEYMOUR - THOMAS MCGUINNESS BEST BITTER CLONE
6 US gallons = 5 Imperial gallons = 22.7 L
GRAINBILL
94% = 7.24 lbs = 3.28 kg, Pale Malt
4% = .31 lb = 141 g, Torrified Wheat
2% = .15 lb = 68 g, Crystal Malt
MASH at 153.5°F/67.5°C, 60 minutes
BOIL 60 minutes
HOPS
1.13 oz = 32 g, Fuggles, 60 minutes
.38 oz = 11 g, Fuggles, 15 minutes
YEAST: Whitbread-B/S-04
STATS (assuming mash efficiency of 78% and yeast attenuation of 71%):
OG: 1.038
FG: 1.011
ABV: 3.5%
IBU: 22
COLOUR: 5°SRM/10°EBC

Re: Best Bitter? Recipe Wanted
Here's another alternative suggestion

Invert is no2 to provide some flavour - you'd need to make your own
also that recipe was for a slightly stronger beer so use less bittering hops, maybe 45g or so instead

The Hoppy Black...each bottle goes off like a rocket when opened. I primed it in my standard way but it goies nuts. I can only taste the Carafa special III, its been the same with every beer I've used it in.
I'm hoping to get another brew on this week, most of my beer was drunk over Christmas so I now have almost no stock.
