Hello,
Now that I have converted my 2 x 27ltr Burco's and am all set up I would like to make a similar beer to Bath Gem. Anyone done anything similar? and maybe can point me in the right direction?

It's not a complete recipe, but this data should definitely help you out:
Bath Ales Gem (Amber Ale)
OG: 1046
Grainbill: 91% Maris Otter, 4% Crystal Malt, 4% Wheat, 1% Chocolate
Hops: Challenger for bittering, Goldings for aroma
IBU: 22-25
Colour: clear amber
Yeast: proprietary strain derived of Whitbread-B, so S-04 will be perfect

The OP hasn't been on the site in a few years, but your efforts are appreciated. I always like to see a recipe

Me too, obviously.6470zzy wrote:...I always like to see a recipe![]()

I sometimes scan through Beer Recipe threads with 0 replies when I'm feeling up for a challenge. That way, if I can find a response, even if the OP is long gone, the next time anytime does a Google search for a Bath Gem clone, then Jim's Beer Kit is the cool place to be. Knowledge is power!
Cheers to you too!
Re: Bath Gem Replicate
Glad to see someone picking up a Gem recipe it's a fine brew and one I would like to do as it's one of my favourites.
The bottle and the draft are different strengths but I've only ever had the bottled.
The biscuity like maltiness I thought must have been derived from one of the speciality malts. Having used buscuit I know it's not that. Someone suggested amber but now your grainbill doesn't list that either. Any ideas for how you'd lift that flavour out of those grains?

Freshly malted and freshly cracked Maris Otter barley, Baby! That's all anyone needs for heavenly biscuity-ness.
