Accidental Punk IPA - pimped Coopers kit.

Hi. I use this forum for reference all the time, and never post. However, I just thought I'd share an accidental winning recipe that tastes and looks like Brewdogs Punk IPA.

just FYI, I've stopped taking OG / SG readings for my brews these days - pure laziness - but this one worked a treat. I was in a rush, as I wanted to have it bottles for a week for a barbeque last saturday. Can't believe it came out so good

For 23l:

1.7kg can Coopers Real Ale
1.5kg can Light LME
15g Hersbrucker pellets / 10g Galaxy
30g Galaxy pellets
115g Holland & Barret Glucose (w/ vitamin C) for priming.

I followed the 'Method # 2' here:
http://webspace.webring.com/people/ms/s ... thods.html

with the Coopers can, LME and Hersbrucker/Galaxy pellets. Used the bog standard coopers dried yeast that came with the kit. I'd normally use something else, but this was basically a mish mash of ingredients that I had lying around the house and beggars can;t be choosers..

Kept it at 21deg for 9 days.

transferred to secondary on day 10, and dry hopped with 30g Galaxy pellets in a muslin bag for 4 days.

Then bulk primed with 115g Glucose in about 100ml water.

Kept in a cupboard at room temp for 7 days.

Delicious. Lovely hop aroma, taste of tropical fruits & citrus. Dark brown, not too gassy, decent head after only 7 days in the bottle.

Enjoy :)
