Just a silly question really.
I'm planning on brewing the second batch of Wit beer after the first went down so well, and that was a lemon and lime WIT with 25g crushed coriander and 25g lime/lemon peel in 5 mins of the boil.
Now I've got a bag of dried bitter orange peel from The Malt Miller and I'm going to make a second batch exactly the same but want to use orange rather than lime. Should I just go for 25g of orange peel?
How much orange peel?
Re: How much orange peel?
I recently did a Belgian Wit (23l) and threw in 40g of citrus zest (used a mixture of lime, orange and lemon) plus 25g corriander. Turned out pretty well - one for the ladies possibly. I would have thought actual peel would have less effect than zest as its less dispersed/lower surface area? However if its dried then its concentrated so that may counter the effect. Personally I might be inclined to use the same weight as you did before, possibly reduce slightly - it would be a shame to overpower the beer so it tastes like a Pina Colada or something evil like that.
