Loch Ness One Hop Beyond

Post by lord.president » Fri Sep 20, 2013 8:54 pm

Hi, I had a pint of Loch Ness' 'Madness-One Hop Beyond' at a craft beer event. I didn't really like it at first, but the taste intrigued me. (See also Hesket Newmarket Old Carrock!) It was almost red. Does anybody know what the hops were likely to be?

I don't know anything about the Loch Ness, frankly I don't even believe it exists :), but the Old Carrock uses Goldings and First Gold for bittering and a late flavour/aroma Styrian Goldings addition.

I think it's the yeast in Old Carrock, really fruity. I was on a mission to have all the beers named after the fells I've been up! Even walked past the Old Crown in Hesket Newmarket on the way back down from High Pike (That's a malty beast) ,with a whole 86p in my pocket. Not even enough for a half. :(

Hi guys,
Yes the madNESS is a bit of a challenging mouthful! Without revealing our recipe secrets I can tell you that all the hops used in that particular brew are U.S. ones - Columbus, Summit and a new one, Experimental 3663 - in secret amounts....
You should be finding our beers in more far flung places soon as we've a few deals in the pipeline. Hope you enjoy them all when you find them.
Cheers
