yea i know the mo isnt a massive quantity just wanted to use it all up..theres no brew shops near me ..
Re: use up recipe??
You've less than 2kg of grain total, and very little base malt, so you're gonna need more base malt, or extract obviously.
Re: use up recipe??
i know ...so using excisting hops /yeast etc what recipe you recommend and how much more maris and crystal would i need??
Re: use up recipe??
I've only done 6 AG brews myself so you really need a more experienced brewer but I'd suggest something like:
For 25 litres
Pale Malt 4800g
Flaked Barley 200g
Wheat Malt 200g
Dark Crystal Malt 50g
Northern Brewer 30g 60 mins
Goldings 30g 15 mins
Goldings 30g 0 mins either steep or dry hop
OG 1047
ABV 4.5%
Bitterness 38 EBU
The grain bill is close to what Wye Valley use in some of their beers, and they use Goldings too.

Double post
If you want 20 litres, divide all weights by 5 and multiply by 4. The Windsor yeast should be fine, though I've never used it! It's suitable for the English style beer.

Re: use up recipe??
If you have a demijohn you could make a gallon of something strong and dark with plenty of wheat in it.
Re: use up recipe??
i would but firing up the keggle for a gallon not worth it just going to buy more grist
Re: use up recipe??
How much beer you making?
For 20 litres I would use 30 litres total. Mash with 10 litres, Use 20 litres for sparging.
For 25 litres, use 37 litres. 13 for the mash, 24 for sparging.
For 15 litres, 23 litres. 8 for the mash, 15 for sparging.
This is what Brewmate tells me to do. Google it. It is free software you can download and is very easy to use. I'm sure there is better software but I tried a few and found this one straight forward and it allows me to manipulate recipes easily. I've built up a bank of recipes in it that I have tweaked and saved for future use.
The recipe above is for 25 litres, you'd need to adjust the grain and hop quantities for a different quantity of beer, obviously.
If anyone disagrees with anything, speak now, I'm still a beginner meself!
