I have a number of friends that are into warhammer 40k, so i want to try and create "fenrisian ale" for them but there is no description for the colour, any suggestions folks?

Had to Google this one as I am not into computer games. However, it appears that Fenrisian ale is also known as Mjod, which translates from Norwegian to English as mead. So I would suggest it is a light coloured brew. Not sure if they would have honey available to brew with and besides, it is apparently distilled from native plants so maybe it's more of a spirit than an ale. Hope this helps :D

I had considered making it pale, but after a few chats with a couple of local game shops the consensus seems to be that it would be dark and fairly bitter, thanks for the help :)

In that case maybe an imperial stout would be the way to go.

Warhammer 40K - now that takes me back. I played that as a kid when it first came out - what a geek!

It is described as:

"Fenrisian Ale, called Mjod in the unique Fenrisian Low Gothic dialect, is an extremely potent concotion distilled from the fermentation of the native plants of Fenris. Highly alcoholic and toxic"

A good strong Imperial Stout would fit the bill - You could call it Imperium Stout...

It looks dark and strong, should fit the bill! Since the description says it is made with native plants, why not add some unique character to the beer by infusing it with gruit herbs towards the end of the boil. Things like mugwort, yarrow, marsh rosemary and nettles might be fun. It would definitely make for a one-of-a-kind and memorable drink.
