Thornbridge Brother Rabbit recipe
Thornbridge Brother Rabbit recipe
Brother Rabbit from Thornbridge is one of my favourite Summer session ales at the moment so I had a crack at the recipe and sent it to Rob at the Thornbridge Brewery. He recommended a few tweaks and said it was close enough.
So here it is. I'm going to get this brew on tomorrow.
Brother Rabbit
OG: 1.041
FG: 1.010
IBU: 34
4% ABV
93% Maris Otter
7% Torrified Wheat
60 minute boil
All hop additions are the same weight
Start of boil: Centennial 17 IBUs 15g
After 30 mins: Cascade 10 IBUs 15g
15 mins to go: Amarillo 7 IBUs 15g
Flameout:

Cascade 15g
Amarillo 15g

That's great that they were willing to help.
I'm drinking an Amarillo, Centennial and Cascade brew that I did about a month ago and I'm very please with it. Hope your clone goes well.

Re: Thornbridge Brother Rabbit recipe
Will be interested to know how this turns out. I thought Bro Rabbit was hopped with Chinook rather than Amarillo. Not sure where I got that info though.
[EDIT] Must have been here: http://www.ratebeer.com/beer/thornbridg ... bit/71224/ it does mention Amarillo as well though.

Thanks Matt - Yes, fair play to the boys at Thornbridge!
I read that ratebeer page too CG but it doesn't taste like there's any chinook in there to me. Chinook does stand out. It's very piney.
I forgot to say, the yeast is WLP001 or US05.

What calculation do they use for the ibu? Tinseth?
Looks like a nice beer, will definitely give this a go!

Not sure what they use, but I use tinseth 40% base utilisation. Just use whatever you use.
Just pitched this Brothe Rabbit and a kippling - a double Thornbridge brew day today.
I can't wait.

Re: Thornbridge Brother Rabbit recipe
I'll bung it in the software and see what happens I guess. I've been reading a thread over at BIABrewer about recipes.
These guys (PistolPatch in particular) seem to be way ahead in terms of accuracy in recipe conversion! Seems they've inspired me in their mission to standardise things, what with the discrepancies between software etc. An intersting read I thought.
Hence the question about IBU formula I guess. I expect my next question would have been the end of boil volume...
Still, looks good as a basis

Oh yes, pistolpatch, the recipe integrity king lol
Re: Thornbridge Brother Rabbit recipe
I plan to try this for my next brew but for BIAB should I boil for 90 mins instead of 60?.
Have entered the parameters in "the calculator". Grain bill looks ok but hops 27.2g Centennial, 21.4 Cascade and 16.3g Amarrilo not including the 15g of each at flameout. Hope this is right?
