English Ale
English Ale
Having been supping a lot of American IPA's, and quite a few Belgium brews, over the past few years, I've sickened myself off. From now on, if I'm brewing 40 pints of deliciousness, I'm going to revert back to the best of British. Always goes down well, especially when sessioning. London Pride is my next brew of choice.

Re: English Ale
If I had to limit myself to one type of beer it would be English ale.
I have goldings growing in the backyard.

I'm just here for the beer.

Re: English Ale
If I only had to brew one beer over and over again it would be a bitter: 1042°, 35-40 ibus.
4% crystal
2% wheat malt
8% munich
86% pale ale
a dash of black or chocolate malt to adjust colour
----------
Target at 60mins for 25 ibus
Northdown at 15 and 5 minutes for 10 ibus
EKG/Styrian Goldings/BramX at flame off for 30 minute hop stand
Life would be so uncomplicated.

Re: English Ale
I've settled on a 1043 bitter as my house ale. Nowt but pale malt, crystal and brewing sugar. For hops it's a more or less 50:50 mix of EKG and fuggles, with extra EKG at 10 mins - 33 IBUs.DeGarre wrote:If I only had to brew one beer over and over again it would be a bitter: 1042°, 35-40 ibus.

I'm running an experiment brewing the same ale 4 times alternating between sulphuric and phosphoric acids for alkalinity control to see if there is any perceivable change in taste. First one is tomorrow with sulphuric.
Best wishes
