Well I'm going to a damson stout soon I'm mashing about 400g of damsons into the primary at start but the general view is like dry hopping put in after krustation has died down (5 days) as it won't damage delicate flavours. As for the amount I just guessed.... Ok that bit I lied I'm using 100g oats 200g chocolate 300g brown sugar 400g of damsons 500g of dme x 2 see gotta keep numbers even

No it's a highly technical word for advanced brewers either that or my rubbish English has kicked in.

Actual cherry flavoring or cherries? Sweet or sour cherries?
Nothing wrong with a cherry stout, I did one a long time ago and went with sweet cherries to better balance with the roastiness of the stout.
I'm just here for the beer.

I've bought the cherry flavouring from THBS that I am going to flavour a porter, I plan to add a few drops at the bottling stage amount undecided ATM will do taste test at the time.
Hope this helps

I used fresh cherries to the tune of three pounds in a three gallon batch. It's been a really long time since I brewed it and I'm a bit hazy on the results other than I was happy with it.
After fermentation is done you can add some cherries (.5 to 1 pound per gallon) and take a taste after a week and decide if you want more. If you use flavoring add to the bottling bucket until it tastes right to you.
I'm just here for the beer.
