Recipe to use up leftover hops?

Post by rsw » Mon Sep 08, 2014 12:32 pm

Just had a sort out of stuff in the freezer and I have some hops that I want to use up, and need a recipe suggestion.

The hops I want to use up are are:
Citra approx 40g
Bobek approx 90g
Saaz approx 60g
Northern Brewer approx 30g
Centennial approx 30g
Amarillo approx 50g

The citra and bobek are the oldest so particularly want to use those

I've got some crystal and black malt which could do with using as well

My previous brews have all been pale ales and I would like to brew something different (darker, maltier) this time.

Thanks
Richard

84% Pale, 10% Crystal, 5% Flaked Oats, 1% Black Malt

Make as big a batch as your equipment can handle, using the Northern Brewer hops for bittering. Then collect as many 1 gallon-ish containers/jugs/buckets, etc. to use as secondary fermentors, split the near-finished beer equally into them and do a huge dry hop comparison.

Cheers!

Hadn't even crossed my mind to split it. Will see what secondary fermenters I can get, but think splitting 23 litres into 4 or 5 seems sensible.

Thanks
