Re: wet hops...whos doing what
Your best off you use a hop of known alpha at the start of the boil to give the bitterness then use the green hops at flame out for aroma.
Re: wet hops...whos doing what
Nah, guess it and let the beer gods have a hand in the brew.
A bit over or under is fine. You can be too precise in these things. Live a little...

'fraid I'm with boingy there - push the limits a bit, press the go button, see what happens.
But we're not all built like that...

Green all the way through.
Last year I mash hopped, put some in at 60mins then a shed load last 5 mins. Pure nectar!

B2B....very sound reasoning and you're aided by Rob knowing the varietal and potential AA%. As you say, I don't have that.....mine are hedgerow wilds picked from various locations so to not strip the resource....so very random. Its why I'm using a fairly innocuous pale malt kit as my bade medium...it's already lightly bittered, so a little extra from hops wont harm it
Just like trying new ideas!
Re: wet hops...whos doing what
Hops arrived yesterday, big box from MM, yeast starter in airing cupboard overnight foaming nicely this morning.
Overnight mash, boil today, 90l now tucked up in 2 fermenters, big bag of spent hops outside garage. Lovely pale colour wort, bitterness seems perfect from tasting the hydrometer jar, was expecting more in your face hoppiness, maybe that will come out once the yeast has done its stuff and cleared away the sugars.
Not planning to dry hop, mainly as I want to rescue the yeast for next brew in 3 week time, also as I've used all the wet hops.
Thanks to Rob for his mission to Kent for us - looking forward to Beerjolais Nouveau day in hopefully 2 weeks time (time to test my fastpath process - week in primary, week in secondary, it's only 3.6% ABV so might work).

Re: wet hops...whos doing what
Today the local home brew club came over to harvest my hops. Between the 4 of them, they harvested my fuggle, getting just over 6kg of green hops. I kept 700g (to go in a brew I am about to start - 18l length), the rest they split between them. Going to have some interesting green hop beers coming out in the next month. Does mean I'm doing a double brew day, with brew 1 about to go into the fermenter. Gonna be a late night...

Well, My green hop beer has been put to bed in it's fermenter. Have 20 litres of a greeny-browny-grey beer that is best described as no the sort of colour anything you might want to eat or drink should ever be...
Most bonkers hopping I've ever done on home brew. Giant handfuls of wet hops going into the copper. Will see in a week if I've wasted my time or not. I used 550g of wet hops, plus 28g of bitter hops (EKG pellets).
What are the rest of you upto ?

Re: wet hops...whos doing what
I did a clone of Sierra Nevada Celebration given that its their wet hop ale. Used 100% cascade given thats what I had grown!
Hilariously un scientific brewday! Unknown to me my refractometer had broken so I had no idea if i'd hit gravity or were even close to it from a bigger than normal mash. Picking hops outside in the dark as the boil was on. Followed by just chucking 600gs of wet hops into a 35lt boil over various stages throughout! And to finish it off I watered down at the end to meet my target volume.
Litterally no idea what the finishing gravity was, aimed for 6.4% probably nearly 5%, no idea what IBU.
CANT WAIT TO TRY IT!!! HAHAHA
All the above is why brewing is the best hobby in the world......love it.
