Re: Magic Rock
I don't know any Magic Rock recipe specifics, but their beers are modelled after US West Coast APAs and IPAs. The following grainbill is the starting point for most of them. Plus, it also matches beers Magic Rock brewmaster Stuart Ross made at Kelham Island, such as Up The Junction. The orange amber colour would match both Cannonball and High Wire, too.
90-95% High quality Two-Row Pale Malt (which almost certainly means Maris Otter at Magic Rock)
5-10% Munich Malt
Cannonball apparently uses lots of different US hops, and High Wire uses lots of different NZ hops. You know the usual suspects. Just take a wild guess and get brewin'! It won't be a perfect match, but it surely won't be bad.

Awesome brewery. Haven't seen any real clone recipes around. Once their planned move to a bigger premesis comed off hopefully their beer will be easier to get a hold of in the bottle...

Hi
) ... unfortunately they didn't share their Cannonball or High Wire recipes, it was for their Clown Juice hoppy wheat, the recipe for which is shared over there (link), since you're never going to be able to get the book anyway
Gibbelm, it may not be what you were after, but it (along with Seymour's advice, of course) may give you some clues as to how the guys at Magic Rock think
Cheers, PhilB
... they, along with many other breweries, provided a recipe for one of their beers for inclusion in "The Complete Homebrew Handbook" (link, but sadly that's already out of printUpTheToon wrote:Haven't seen any real clone recipes around.

Re: Magic Rock
Seymour you're a legend! I was thinking along them lines. I think the High Wire tastes a bit like Punk IPA. Cannonball is pretty special. Do you know any good recipes for something similar you get over there?seymour wrote:I don't know any Magic Rock recipe specifics, but their beers are modelled after US West Coast APAs and IPAs. Re: Magic Rock
I've had Canonball a few times up here in Scarbados.
Looks like something for bittering, and them Apollo, Summit, Target and Warrior. See here for a write up of their IIPA 'Human Canonball' version brewday.
Personally, I'd add a bit of sugar in there too, for a 7-odd percent IPA.
