Hi,attempting something like Blonde Witch:
3960g Maris Otter (probably go for low colour) 90%
265g wheat malt 6%
175g light crystal malt 4%
53g Fuggles 60 min 20.3 IBU
13g Fuggles 10 min 1.8 IBU
WLP 029 Kolsch yeast
I'm fairly new to recipe formulation, and whilst I can 'get' the malt part, I'm struggling with when and how much hops- ie % of IBU's at first, second and third charges. Could I possibly have some feedback? Thanks.

Whats the deal with kolsch yeast, not done one of them, is it low temp ferment? Fuggles eh? Is that a trad hop for kolsch?

Re: Blonde Bombshell
Er no to both! Aiming for a Blonde Witch. Researched that it's hopped with Fuggles, and various forums suggest Kolsch yeast is good for a blonde- it's fermented at ale yeast temp, but lager yeast clean,I believe. Either way,the FV smells fantastic.

Kolsch yeast sounds like what I'd like to try in that case, summer blonde light for my lager drinking friends and those hot summer days. Like it!

After a week, it's down to 1008! OG was a little lower than expected,so upped it using an online calculator. FG was predicted 1010. Smells like Blonde Witch and tastes like it too, from today's hydro sample. Looking forward to having the finished article inb a few weeks.
