Just weighed out the grain and hops for the brew day tomorrow for this 40 litre recipe.
A bit of an experiment, main bittering done by the Chinook, then the late additions will be Columbus.
We see how this turns out.

10.00 g Columbus 60.0 min 10.0 IBUs
15.00 g Columbus 15.0 min 7.4 IBUs
25.00 g Columbus 10.0 min 9.0 IBUs
30.00 g Columbus 5.0 min 6.0 IBUs
50.00 g Chinook 0 min
20.00 g Columbus 0 min

Magnum 14.4 @ 75mins- 4g
Columbus 17.5 @ 5mins - 50g
Chinook 14 @ 5mins - 25g
Columbus 17.5 @ 80c steep for 30mins - 25g
Chinook 14 @ 80c steep for 30mins - 25g
Columbus @ Dry Hop - 25g
Chinook @ DH - 50g

I've done a red ale with those two hops - must do a pale! Looks good.

Just took a gravity reading.
It's down from 1054 to 1012 in 6 days.
I was a little worried as I had a loss of power to my workshop and the temperature went up in 23C overnight in the fermentation fridge.
However, I had a taste from the trial jar and it was excellent. High hopes for this batch. I think the little bit of crystal rye helps as well.

I was drinking this last night after 2 weeks in the keg.
It's very good. Although next time I think I will reduce the bittering hops and increase the later additions.
