Single Hop Pale Ale: EKG

Post by laithclark » Sat Jan 16, 2016 8:23 pm

I decided I needed to get a better understanding of individual hops rather than just recipe combinations in beers I brew so I have kicked off a Single Hop Pale Ale series, starting with East Kent Goldings. You can read about it and get the recipe here: http://bit.ly/1PitYp9

You can't go wrong with goldings in your beer.
I'm just here for the beer.

When a man is tired of goldings, he is tired of beer, as Samuel Johnson almost said :)

i made the single hop EKG in the Greg Hughes book and really enjoyed it.

It was my first time with the hop and it certainly wont be my last.

There are some Goldings fans out there then! The Greg Hughes book was my inspiration for choosing EKG. And the fact it's in most recipes for english ales!

I decided to short batch for a couple of reasons really, one was to stop getting bored or taking too long to get through 19 litres but also to brew more beers and experiment more within the space I have which is one under counter brew fridge. I am also using it to repeat brew a couple of beers I really like in the search for perfection.......!
