is this needing a long maturation period?

Sounds to me as if the Prize Old Ale component could be strong and may benefit from a long maturation.

Didn't someone post a brewday a couple of months ago for a brown ale made in a similar way - blending a strong, aged beer with a fresh, young one?

Prize Old Ale is ABV 1092 so would need a long maturation period,Newcastle Brown Ale is formulated in the same way It is a way of getting a medium gravity ale with the same attributes of a strong ale.
