Are you mashing in your flashy Brupaks boiler? How are you finding it if you are?
Hold on a sec... I've seen this a few times here or there. This, or that, is a 'variant' of Caroline. Caroline is Caroline. If you change it, it's not Caroline anymore! It's like saying "Hey, I've done a variant of TTL, but with 7lb of Pale malt, 2lb Flaked barley, 1lb Roast Barley, Northdown and Goldings hops, and Guinness yeast!DaaB wrote:Also known as one of the many variants of Wheelers Carolines Ale. The recipe on this thread is nice, but Caroline it ain't, not even a close variant. What is does sort of resemble is the recipe Wheeler calls 'The Best Beer in the World' which is 100% pale malt, copper hopped with Goldings, and nothing else. OG1055. That may be where the confusion arises, as it's the first recipe listed in 'Home Brewing'
THIS is Caroline - directly from the book.
Pale malt - 3.5kg
Crystal malt - 350g
Flaked Maize - 500g
Invert Sugar - 400g
Goldings - copper 110g
No late hops, no dry hops
OG 1041
its a pity wheeler didn't practice what you preachSteveD wrote:Hold on a sec... I've seen this a few times here or there. This, or that, is a 'variant' of Caroline. Caroline is Caroline.
