Hopefully this wont infringe the rules on links to commercial sites, but I have tried the "Golden Cornbine" recipe listed here:http://www.copperkettlehomebrewing.co.u ... f32eb1ff99, and it is absolutely lovely.

Nice one zapp, looks like a great kit that! Not too dissimilar from my eventual recipe (Bobek in place of Fuggles, Northdown in place of Challenger), which is now fermenting away. Lovely aroma of elderflower coming through now, which seemed to be undetectable for the first couple of days, even during the boil (but maybe i'd had all my senses blitzed from a nice hoppy boil!)
For the record, here's the final recipe I went with on Sunday afterwards....

Code: Select all

Batch Size: 23.00 L
Boil Size: 30.44 L
Estimated OG: 1.040 SG
Estimated Color: 11.6 EBC
Estimated IBU: 30.0 IBU
Brewhouse Efficiency: 70.70 %
Boil Time: 90 Minutes

Ingredients:
------------
Amount Item Type % or IBU
2.80 kg Pale Malt (5.9 EBC) Grain 67.63 %
0.84 kg Lager Malt (3.9 EBC) Grain 20.29 %
0.25 kg Wheat, Torrified (3.3 EBC) Grain 6.04 %
0.17 kg Caramalt (30.0 EBC) Grain 4.11 %
0.07 kg Munich Malt (17.7 EBC) Grain 1.69 %
0.01 kg Black Malt (1300.0 EBC) Grain 0.24 %

40.00 gm Bobek [4.50 %] (90 min) (First Wort Hop) Hops 25.0 IBU
15.00 gm Northdown [8.70 %] (10 min) Hops 5.0 IBU
20.00 gm Elderflowers (Boil 10.0 min) Misc
10.00 gm Northdown [8.70 %] (10 min) (Aroma Hop-Steep at 80C)

1 Pkgs Brakspear Oxford Gold (Burton yeast) 1L starter
That Burton yeast is really nice to brew with I'm finding. Not so frothy when it picks up, which is good as I ended up overfilling my FV again, and it top crops very well. Managed to get another brew on yesterday, so after skimming the crud the previous day, I cropped the yeast on day two and chucked it (~100ml) directly into the FV on my next batch (1.053 ESB, recipe to follow), which is fermenting away nicely today :D :D

FV: -
Conditioning: AG34 Randy's Three Nipple Tripel 9.2%, AG39 APA for a mate's wedding
On bottle: AG32 Homegrown Northdown ESB, AG33 Homegrown Cascade Best
On tap: -
Garden: 2x cascade, 2x Farnham whitebine (mathon), 2x northdown, 1x first gold
