Gluten Free Extract Recipe
Re: Gluten Free Extract Recipe
OK, thanks. I'll probably go ahead without it then, doubling up on the treacle.
Cheers,
John

Yep, that's good. Its what Tesco used to sell until recently. 2 Tsp is plenty unless you particularly like chocolate.

I'd rather have a full bottle in front of me than a full frontal lobotomy, but either will do

Hi Duncan!
Can you post or PM me with a link or contact info for a place that sells rice (extract) syrup or powder?
Many thanks!

Guy

Hi Guy
I got my last lot from
www.GoodnessDirect.co.uk
You want rice syrup and not malted rice syrup if you are making gluten free.
Malted rice is rice syrup with malt extract added.
cheers

Re: Gluten Free Extract Recipe
Just some feedback on this recipe...I have made a batch and am halfway through it. It took a while to settle/clear but looks and tastes great now (finding a cool enough place during the recent hot weather proved difficult and probably didn't help). It is indeed quite a light, refreshing taste and very happy with my first attempt.
Cheers Duncan!

Glad you enjoyed it.
It may help it settle quicker if you use a bit more gelatine. If you do 4 Star next i would definitely use a bit more.
cheers

Thanks Duncan. I was thinking about 2 pkts of gelatine as I think I saw this mentioned on another thread but I decided to stick with one. I'm just getting ingredients together for another batch of Red Diesel. I want to establish consistency of my brews and then I will try Four Star. I shall try more gelatine in this one.

John

Re: Gluten Free Extract Recipe
I use approx. 1.5 pkts for all my brews these days. Haven't had any problems with clearing for at least 10 consecutive brews.

Does anyone know where I can get Chocolate Essence. I have most of the ingredients now apart from this and liquorice tea bags but am really struggling to find any Essence.
Thanks,
