APA + Best Bitter Recipe's Wanted
Re: APA + Best Bitter Recipe's Wanted
It is still stuck at 1018. Is it worth using another pack of the same yeast?

I dunno. Maybe, maybe not. These are the cheapo Edme ones your wife found, right? If so, it certainly wouldn't hurt to try. You might wanna switch to a more attenuative one. I assume you've tried the swirl and warm suggestions already?Uncle Joshua wrote:It is still stuck at 1018. Is it worth using another pack of the same yeast?

I have tried the swirl and warm suggestions already. I wondered if the heater was an issue but it is fine. The FV now has another heater in and is covered by most of our bedding cupboard, if it hasn't moved within the next few days or so I'll try another yeast. which other would you go with? I have S-04, S-05 AND Gervin?
Maybe the Edme ones should be used two at a time?

I'd go with rehydrated S-04. Good luck.

This is still at 1018. It seems like it won't go down anymore, I don't want to bin it so is it worth sticking in a bottle knowing its not over strong?

Re: APA + Best Bitter Recipe's Wanted
I'm really perplexed by this one. I don't see anything in the recipe, mash temperature, etc, which would make the fermentation stop with so much residual sweetness. There's no way I'd bin it, but I wouldn't rush it either. I'd set it aside and try not to think about it for several more weeks. Eventually, if it still hasn't finished drier, I'd definitely bottle it and enjoy lots of full-bodied "breakfast mild."
