I have to wait another week or so for a fermenter to free up - but, I've got the mail-order in so I'll be brewing this one as well when I get the chance. I'm still trying to decide whether to give it a bit of flavour and aroma hopping though.

Personally with all the different grains, I think that there is plenty of flavour without the need to add more...

Yeah, I think I'll try it "as is" the first time, though being a bit of a hop head I imagine flavour/aroma may creep in if it gets brewed again...

By the way, what yeasts do you use? I've got a Wyeast #1084 Irish Ale yeast sitting around here which I think is going to get used for this.

I used the Irish Ale yeast first time round. Would likely use it again :) If not that, something similar....

Gr8 pics mashman, enough to make me want to make a stout

I too have been thinking of getting a few of the ss stock pots for fermenting in, for the price they're hard to beat 8)

And sooo shiny

I've never had the meringue looking krausen before. Looks fantastic.

Glad you are enjoying the results :D

I've currently got a stout in secondary (will be kegging on Monday hopefully).

With all these pics, I think I'm going to have to go back to this recipe and make it again :) Especially now that I have improved my brewing technique since last making it :)

Well, I won't be drinking it for about 4 weeks, but at least tomorrow I'll get started with this one. ProMash calculates an o.g. of 1.077 so I've got a strong starter going...
