I woke up this morning to my pregnant daughter eating the oats. I ended up brewing a Batemans Victory Ale clone.

Woah, Mick! That's an ESB recipe with a starting gravity of 1058, right? I thought you only ever brewed 4.5% ABV and under. You getting more alcohol tolerant in your old age?

I suppose we shouldn't make "head retention" and "creamy mouthfeel" jokes about his pregnant daughter, right?

I'm thinking of doing Citra Gold next brewday, I have just got some Citra but don't have magnum. I could order some but I'd prefer to use existing stock, I have: Columbus, Centennial, Cascade, Green Bullet, Challenger, EKG, Fuggles, Bobek, Aurora, Willamette, Chinook.

Any of these that would not alter the final beer too much, if used for bittering instead of Magnum? Which is the most neutral? Or just boil for 90 mins to remove all the flavour? Any thoughts?

Also, while we're here, any ideas for beers with the above hops?

Cheers folks.

Green Bullet or Chinook would pair nicely, and contribute more flavourful bitterness than Magnum.

Thanks Seymour. I will probably use Green Bullet then. Save the Chinook for late additions elsewhere. I am having a new kitchen put in this week so will be weekend after next probably, keep you posted. Might try Mauribrew Weiss, or stick to 05, what you think?
