You used nothing but lager/pils malt, wheat malt, flaked wheat and unmalted oats? There's nothing there that'd give much color at all. Does it look dark in the hydrometer or just the FV?

Yes that's right, the only thing I can think of is it was because I mashed for much longer than normal (would that effect it?)
I put the recipe in beer smith and it said it should be 4.5 SRM
Here is a picture I have just took of a clear bottle so you can see the colour.

That's a surprising colour considering the ingredients. A longer mash shouldn't have that effect.

You definitely didn't put a darker malt in by mistake? Like vienna or something?

Hmm, looks a little darker than mine, but not as dark as Hank's. I suppose there are differences between brands of lager/pils malt.

How's it tasting?

I used Dingemans Pilsen Malt from the malt miller which says it is 2.7 EBC. O well it was my first AG brew and if it is drinkable I will be happy considering what went wrong with it.
I will definitely give this recipe another go soon though and hopefully perfect it :)

Tasting thats always my problem, must get a Judgeing sheet and use the correct terms, but for a weeks worth of action, very fking good, but about to slate that by going to get a Hoe to compare against.

Wife (non drinker) says looks like a "sample", smells like "grapefruit, honey and lemon with grass cuttings, but what does she know...lol
I'll report back when I have a Hoe next to it

as far as colour of the 2(hoe and FIZZY HAZE-SMIFF ) close. mine is on the Right
Smell: mine needs a tad more Citrus, I'll be dropping a Grapefruit in the Corny and using a few GF's next time
Mouthfeel: My brew is just thicker but that might be its age
Taste:the Hoe bursts the Citrus and blends to the malt mine gives the sweetness of the malt and then to the backnote of the citrus.
Message to self " dont underdo the Citrus and a few more late hops"

HOEGAARDEN left (FIZZY HAZE-SMIFF ) on the right but at the end of the day I was not wishing to Clown a brew

The colour's looking about right there! Good to see a comparison.

Re the citrus, like i stated initally i use Bobek late to get extra citrus. I would say my brew is more citrussy than Hoe.

I would say "grapefruit, honey, lemon, grass" is a good thing - did she not mean it as a compliment?

I just ask her to say what she smells and she says.
she does not care for drinking so I get honest non expert answers.

Whole - it's the zest you want, not the juice or pulp.
