How did your Triple Dropped IPA turn out?

Sounds great. =D>

Just seeing this John. It came out superb. Have the ingredients ready for another... apart from the caramalt as I forgot to order it. Doh! Was supposed to brew it on Saturday then realised my error. Brewed Honey and Elderflower ale instead and will order the caramalt this week. Hope to get it brewed over the next few weeks. ;-)
Hi Floyd

I borrowed your idea and brewed a 'Spring Ale' with Honey and Elderflower (~140g florets) last month.

In samples from the keg, elderflower flavour very intense at the moment, (hoping it will calm down a bit), but still think it will be a refreshing pint in a few weeks. Its slow in clearing so I may pop it in a fermenting fridge (when one's empty) at 12C,to help it clear and so its served coolish

I tried this Hophead recipe last year and it was lovely, so much so that I did a 2nd version with Cascade & Amarillo. Neither lasted very long. :)

ATB John

Glad you tried honey and elderflower in an ale. 140g is quite a lot though... I only use 35g of dried and that give a perfect hit I feel. Hopefully it will subside for you.

Mmm Cascade and Amarillo. Yummy.

I've jsut realised that I've contradicted myself! In an earlier post (above) I recommended that someone else use crystal with this type of beer. I suppose my preferences have just changed since then...

Great post this.

I love Dark Star beers especially at The Evening Star pub which I always try to pop in when I go to Brighton.

The Evening Star beers and this post inspired me to to 2 versions of this beer.

The first based on SiHoltye's recipe using Cascade. Proper job, lovely. =D>

I also did a version recently using Amarillo as a replacement hop. Also lovely. In fact drinking it as I type.... :D

This brew really punches above its weight.

Myself and couple friends go to Brighton for dark star beers and the evening star is always the best pub in my view and so near the train station very handy, do you know that if you travel on bedford line you can buy cheap day return tickets from tourist information offices costs £16.
Seeing that hophead is my second favorite beer I will be giving it go when I get round to ordering grain and yeast soon.

Hi Dave
Thanks for the heads up on the train tickets.
I'm out in the sticks in Toddington, so no tourist information office near, but I'm sure I could sort it with a bit of forward planning.

You mention hophead as your 2nd favourite beer. What's your 1st then?

I noticed your signature that you're brewing
a Summer Lightening type beer with Simcoe, Bobek and Willamette. I'd be interested how that combination pans out.

I kegged a Summer Blonde ale last week with Boadicea and lots of Willamette and tasters are very promising :)

HI John
Small world I live in Houghton Regis, and nearest tourist information office at Vernon place Dunstable you can buy tickets in advance and time restriction travel after 10am.
Brewdog punk IPA and 5am saint would be my joint favourite I love the hops they use would like to clone of them, Summer lightening was name I gave to my own recipe first using bobek and simcoe hops which was my best brew last year which was drank in couple weeks out of bottles, willamette was added and was interesting brew but not as good as first attempt.
I'm waiting for grain to arrive this week before having a go at Hophead cannot wait not brewed for a while ,I was in globe Dunstable Saturday and they were having hophead on this week at some point,Do you go to any local beer festivals if so you may have seen my face as am member of CAMRA.

Hi Dave
Sounds tempting, but I have a bloke's day out (Gentlemens' Curry Club) on Fri 22nd, so I don't think I'll be able to make London trip on Sat 23rd as well.

Hi Dave

You left brewing a bit late. Only 16 bottles left. Perilously close to running dry

I'm sure your brew will be lovely,

BTW: Did you go to GBBF?
