Yeah, wasn't a negative, he just wasn't expecting it. Planning to do a repeat of this on Friday, but going to use a liquid yeast - would you bother with a starter dave-o? Planning to try the wlp400 as I've got one in the fridge.

Cheers,

Ray

Strange - Hoegaarden's particularly thick IMO!

I wouldn't, no.

Now you've got me thinking dave-o. Our lass commented it was 'quite gloopy / syrupy when she tried it. Maybe it just ended up extra thick.

Thanks for the (non) starter advice.

Cheers,

Ray

Hello all,

Second all grain brew and this beer sounds just the ticket for the summer.

Got all the ingredients and got the mash done successfully but then stupidly didn't follow the instructions re the coriander. I wacked them in at the beginning of the boil. Doh! Is this ruined?! I shall continue with it anyway but would be nice to know if the result is going to be drinkable!

Cheers

Hello there,

Personally, I would leave it - it certainly won't be ruined, and at least you'll have something to different to report back regarding the taste ;)

Cheers,

The other thing I realised I did wrong.. Put the bobek in with the oranges at 15mins.. So gonna be a bit more bitter than originally intended I think! Should be interesting!!

Will have to report back on how this turns out! At present it resembles a cloudy browny almost green liquid.. Not looking promising!

Hey again,

'Don't panic!' as Jonesy used to shout. Stick with it, it'll probably turn out just fine.

"green"? That's a new one!

It's going to be cloudy with all that flaked wheat, and should be.

Have faith, see how it turns out.

Just sampled my brew 6 days after bottling and it is delicious! I did sub one of the oranges for a grapefruit for extra bite and it came off a treat. A really refreshing light wit with plenty of citrus notes. I did sub the Bobek for Cascade as I had some to use up and it seemed logical given the flavour profile.

I used torrified wheat as my HBS didn't have the flaked and it seems to have worked well.

Only minor quibble is carbonation is quite low which hopefully will improve after another week at room temp.

Great recipe dave-o. Cheers!

Yeah, late cascade in this would be great. Might have to do that next time!

I bottled my version of this yesterday

For some reason it seems to closely resemble orange juice! It also appears to be clearing :? But we shall see what it turns out like!

Yes, i quite like Danstar Munich, although al lot of people seem to be negative about it.

It will work fine for this style of beer IMO/IME.

Well i took the plunge and got this on after slowly collecting the bits i needed . It was a smooth brew day (apart from the bungee strap pinging off that holds my biab bag in place so i had to grab it fast) even though i am knakered as i also did a stout that i put on last night , fell asleep during the biab mash . Then got up at 4.30am to crack on with it . I was all done by 7.30 ish so had a fry up and thought what the heck lets do another one . It smells nice in the fv and my mum is looking forward to having a try .
Kind regards for thr recipe dave-o .
