Sunday Stout

Brewed this yesterday morning. another brew time of just under 4hrs

3290g Pale Optic Malt
1316g Flaked Barley
118g Roasted Barley
204g Chocolate malt (Stirred into the MT in the last 20 mins of the mash)

Mash for 90 mins at 64C

Hops
75g Fuggles (60mins)
5g Protofloc (15 mins)

Strike 72C

Got 27l at 1042

Yeast - Youngs Dried Ale (second generation as used the lees from new scrotum)

started fermenting withing 5 mins!!

Fermenting like a rocket now

This is my first AG stout but hopefully it will be fine

I've never brewed stout, why's the chocolate malt added at the last 20 minutes?

its not always

i have heard that if you do this you will still get the colour and flavour of the darker malts but not the astringency and bitterness

thought i would give it a go
