My Father In Law is a big fan of Burning Gold and I said I would do my best to try and find a clone and brew some for him.
I have not been able to find any recipies on this and was starting to put one together myself. It's not something i've done before so would be grateful if anyone had a clone recipie or if someone could point me in the right direction.
Is it classed as a Blonde Ale?
From what i have seen on the Internet, the hops used are Fuggles and Goldings.
I had thought about this as a recipe for starters:
3.4kg Maris Otter
227g Cara-Pils
34g Crystal Malt to give it a slightly more golden tint
20g Fuggles for 60 mins
15g Goldings for 15 mins
2 x Whitelabs WLP001 California Ale
I would be grateful for any assistance.
Cheers

Re: Wells Bombardier Burning Gold
Looks good but I don't understand the 2 x Whitelabs WLP001 California Ale. Why don't you make a starter with one vial and then split it. Save yerself some cash

Re: Wells Bombardier Burning Gold
Thanks for the advice.
To be honest, the only reason for choosing two is that I have never made a starter.
I need to get on top of this, as you say i could save myself £4-5 each time.
I'll give the Safale-05 a go in my next batch, Whorst, and compare. I have now ordered my bits.

Same here, I can see why people make them, but I haven't had a problem just sprinkling the dried yeast over the foamy wort. Always starts within 12hours or less.heggem wrote: To be honest, the only reason for choosing two is that I have never made a starter.
The recipe sounds a good one.
